Chapter 407
Pow! Smack! Crunch!
It was their first time witnessing a duel between necromancers. As they watched the battle between the two boys, the Hayword brothers couldn’t close their mouths.
“What the heck is that?!”
“They’re getting faster and faster!”
Fwoosh!
Tap tap!
Neither of them protected their bodies with defense.
It was a pure offensive clash, each aiming solely to bring the other down.
Four fists and legs extended with afterimages, moving too fast to follow with the naked eye.
And above all else—
“Wow……!”
Even as they fought, the two boys, immersed in battle, were grinning from ear to ear.
“That’s awesome!”
The Hayword brothers exclaimed, their eyes sparkling.
Fwap!
They clashed with a kick and immediately leapt back, but in that same instant, their fingertips simultaneously aimed for each other’s heads.
<Sickness>
<Strangle>
Boom!
The two curses collided midair and exploded. Black smoke of Darkness billowed, blanketing the air.
Vwoom! Voom!
“!”
Through the smoke, six vials of Low-Grade Poisoning Potions flew toward Hector.
Hector tried to retreat.
Swish!
But a Cloud rope, rising from the sand, coiled around Hector’s ankle in a flash and anchored him in place.
“What a beautiful combo!”
“You can do it, Simon!”
Maelyn and Kamibarez cried out anxiously, clutching their chests. Simon instantly activated his magic circle.
‘Break!’
Clang! Clang!
The magic circles drawn on the surface of the potion bottles activated, and all six vials shattered simultaneously. The contents spread wide, covering Hector’s field of vision in green.
<Blast>
But Hector’s reaction was swift.
Within mere seconds, he completed a magic circle. A gust of dark wind blew away the poison.
However—Simon was nowhere to be seen beyond the dissipating toxin.
‘Above!’
Hector quickly looked up. A pitch-black, massive subspace had opened in the sky, and Simon was floating beside it.
“Fire everything!”
Simon commanded. From the subspace, Skeleton Archers fired a rain of arrows.
Hector immediately stomped on the Cloud, extinguishing it, then leapt while deploying a Darkness shield. Arrows slammed down around him as he moved, carving a path through the air.
“Tch!”
This time, Hector counterattacked.
<Bone Spear>
The skeletons were reassembled into multiple bundles of bone spears, launched toward Simon.
Not backing down, Simon summoned skeletons of his own. As they emerged, they scattered like shrapnel, and their bones clung to the incoming Bone Spears, twisting their trajectory.
“Oh!”
“His undead control is impressive.”
Even the adults couldn’t help but be impressed.
Thud!
The moment Simon landed on the sandy ground, Hector charged at him like a rhinoceros.
Simon extended his arm.
“Restoration.”
‘What?’
Even Hector turned his head in confusion. Bones hidden beneath the sand rapidly snapped into place.
‘Skeleton Mage!’
Three successive Dark Blaze spells came flying at Hector, but he burst through the flames and continued charging.
‘Open Gate!’
Now, Overlord’s blades closed in from six directions, aiming at Hector.
A smile crept across Hector’s lips.
I’m fighting with everything I’ve got.
I can feel the wall I must overcome.
Even throwing everything I have at him, he takes it all.
‘How could I not be thrilled?!’
His uplifted mouth wouldn't come down. Hector activated the magic circle completed behind him.
Swoooosh!
Simon wasn’t the only one who had hidden something in the sand. Dragon scales burst forth and slapped onto Hector’s body.
<Dragon Form 50%>
And not just haphazardly attached—
The scales were placed exactly where Overlord’s projected paths and impact points would hit.
Crack-crack-crack-crack-crack!
The six tentacle blades sparked as they scraped across Hector’s scales.
“Woooaaah!!”
As Hector effortlessly brushed aside Overlord, thunderous cheers erupted from all around.
Simon flinched, startled, and raised his arms into a defensive stance.
“Got you! Simon Follentia!”
Craaaaaack!
A punch delivered in Dragon Form shattered Simon’s guard and landed a solid blow. Simon’s body was flung backward, leaving a long trail in the sand.
“Simon!!”
His teammates cried out in dismay. Simon staggered but managed to regain his stance, and Hector continued to charge.
‘Took a hit.’
It wasn’t 100% Dragon Form yet, but Hector was now nearly unbeatable in raw power alone.
And Hector was thinking the same.
‘He’ll try to escape and aim to complete his Royal Guard…!’
However—
Simon’s choice was unexpected.
Clatterrrr!
Clatterrr!
Eight skeletons tumbled out from the subspace as Simon spread his arms wide.
Clack!
Clack!
Clack! Clack!
Simon’s body was quickly covered by the bones of the eight skeletons.
Soon, his clothes were completely obscured beneath the layer of bones. He stood two heads taller, with a much bulkier frame.
A true image of a fortress of bone.
<Bone Armor – Heavy Defense>
With a heavy rumble, Simon charged head-on to confront Hector.
Crash!
The two locked hands, knees bent, and began a raw power struggle.
Crack-crack-crack-crack!
A look of shock appeared in Hector’s eyes.
Even wearing that thick Bone Armor, Simon was not being pushed back. Following Simon’s Absolute Order, every single bone fragment generated magnetic pull.
‘He’s confronting me head-on?!’
Instead of running away, Simon chose to meet him with force.
The Simon who had always looked up at Hector—today, he was looking down on him.
This truly was—
“Grr!”
—a completely unpredictable guy.
“GAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!”
Hector burst into manic laughter.
He’d waited for this!
A fight that made his blood boil!
Crack!
Snap!
As Hector roared and applied more force, ominous cracking sounds echoed from Bone Armor.
“Simon Follentiaaaaaa!!”
Crashhhhhh!
At last, Bone Armor was completely shattered, and Hector broke through.
At the moment he reached out toward Simon—
Clack!
Thunk!
Clatter!
Crack!
Simon slipped away, and the Bone Armor changed owners.
Hector became the one trapped in bone.
‘A trap!’
“First time trying this.”
Simon, kneeling on one knee in the sand, swept his arm.
“Isn’t this what they call Bone Prison?”
He knew full well Hector had been anticipating this battle.
And that very knowledge—he turned into a weapon, into a key for victory.
“Simon Follentia!!”
Crack!
Crunch!
Hector tried to break out of Bone Armor with brute force, but Simon snapped his fingers.
“Spin.”
The moment the word left his lips, the Bone Armor began to spin like a top. The severe dizziness drained the strength from Hector, who had been trying to break free.
“…Whoa!”
The Hayword brothers, watching all this unfold, couldn’t shut their jaws at Simon’s ruthlessness.
“Simon hyung… even though he looks like a coffin, he’s kinda got a dirty side to him…!”
“That’s insane, Simon! Finish it now!!”
Dick shouted with an excited face.
“You’ve completely grasped Hector’s tendencies. If you just land Sickness, it’s a 100% win.”
Maelyn smiled in satisfaction.
“A wise strategy!”
Even the kind-hearted Kamibarez was offering pure admiration.
The three Hayword brothers looked at each other.
‘Necromancers are just…’
Boom!
Just then, Hector’s body, still clad in Bone Armor, shot into the air. At some point, a magic circle had been drawn on the sandy ground.
‘Ah—Leap Magic!’
Simon, who had been preparing his curse, quickly raised his head. Hector, still in Bone Armor, came crashing down toward him.
Craack!
The impact shattered the Bone Armor, and Hector burst out like a prisoner from hell, charging with fury.
‘Of course.’
A tense look flashed in Simon’s eyes as he retreated.
‘I knew he was strong, but this is beyond expectation. No… he’s even stronger than before.’
Simon let out a soft breath and placed his hand on the magic circle at his side.
“Rejoice. I’ll use this technique for the first time in our duel.”
Tssssssssssssss—!
Simon pulled something from within the magic circle. Hector’s eyes widened instantly, and he halted his charge.
Even the adults began to stir.
“What is that?”
“A Darkness variation, maybe?”
“It could be that Cloud technique Simon uses.”
“No, it’s neither.”
Richard shook his head, eyes gleaming.
“That’s a power that didn’t exist before.”
Simon, holding the violet-glowing spear, slowly took a stance.
<Simon Original – Chaos Spear>
‘What the hell is that now?!’
Uncertainty crept into Hector’s charging eyes. Faced with an unfamiliar technique, he had no choice but to stop and prepare.
“Dodge it, Hector!”
Simon hurled the spear with force.
Thwack!
Hector prepared to sidestep the incoming Chaos Spear, which flew straight toward him.
But then—
Swoosh—!
The spear suddenly veered sideways right in front of Hector’s face.
“??!”
Vwoom!
Now upward.
Fwoosh!
Now behind.
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
With no discernible pattern, the spear sliced through the air like mad, looking like a storm of violet lightning bolts.
Bwaaaaaaaaaam!
“!!!”
And the strike came—from behind.
When Hector turned around, the Chaos Spear slammed into his back.
But—there was no pain.
As the violet spear dropped to the ground with a soft thud, Simon clicked his tongue in slight disappointment.
“‘Dud.’”
“What kind of trickery is this!!”
Hector, realizing he’d been fooled, charged in anger.
Simon coolly pulled out three more spears from his waist.
Swish.
He casually grabbed a spear in one hand and tossed it in a random direction.
“Tch!”
Hector was forced to stop again.
Three violet bolts of lightning streaked wildly through the air. Charging in blindly, his entire body and mind screamed with warning signals.
Zap!
One spear grazed Hector’s shoulder.
Shhk!
Another scraped past his ear.
‘Damn it! It’s completely unpredictable!’
Trajectory, speed, power, impact—everything was random.
Pure Chaos.
‘Of course, that must apply to him too!’
As Hector braced and launched forward, Simon leapt into the air.
Then, from above, he assumed a throwing stance with an open, empty palm.
Swish!
As if on cue, the chaotic spear flew into Simon’s hand.
‘He can predict that movement?!’
Thwoooooooom!
Simon hurled the spear with full force. It pierced Hector’s guard and exploded within his barrier suit, erupting in a massive violet blast.
“Grruaaagh!”
Hector, struck with the most powerful damage yet, tumbled across the ground. His faction groaned in pity, yet still cheered him on.
“You’ll find out soon anyway, so I’ll tell you now.”
Simon picked up the Chaos Spear from the ground and spun it in his hand.
“Chaos Spear is thrown with a designated endpoint. The path it flies is random, but the final destination is always the spot I choose.”
Hector’s eyes gleamed.
‘So that’s why he could catch the mid-air spear so easily.’
Fzzzt.
Just then, a sharp headache surged through Hector’s skull.
“…Ghhk!”
The damage itself was bad—but the moment he was hit by Chaos, a splitting headache scrambled his thoughts.
Clutching his forehead, Hector stood up.
‘Is it some kind of curse effect?’
Then he had to counter it. Hector activated his final magic circle.
Crunch!
Crack!
Scales covered Hector’s entire body perfectly, and wings emerged from the subspace and attached to his back.
His body grew larger, a tail formed, and his muzzle took on the shape of a reptile.
<Dragon Form 100%>
–ROOOAAAAAAAR!!
Hector, now fully transformed into the complete Obsidian Dragon, let out a thunderous roar.
Shreeeeak!
A Chaos Spear flew from behind, but Hector lightly swung his tail, coiled around the spear, and crushed it.
[Chaos or whatever, it’s useless before overwhelming power!]
“Then, fine by me.”
Simon also placed his hand on a magic circle he had drawn in advance.
The final Chaos spell had just been completed.
‘Finally time to use it.’
Steadying his pounding heart, Simon activated the magic circle.
‘Chaos Summon!’
Superb.
