Chapter 447 :

Chapter 447

Woooooooooooo!

Along with the dawn pushing away the darkness, a horn-like cry echoed across the Pharonna Peninsula.

“What, what?”

Maelyn, startled, ran forward. Others’ gazes also shifted.

The edge of the Pharonna Peninsula where they stood, and opposite it, the Pharonna Island.

Across the narrow sea between them.

Swaaaaaaaa—

An innumerable swarm of sea creatures was passing through.

“No way!”

Dick’s jaw dropped.

“It’s Deimos!”

“That’s impossible, you idiot! Wasn’t that monstrous whale supposed to come in the afternoon?”

“It’s not Deimos!”

With teary eyes brimming, Kamibarez shouted.

“It’s Simon!”

“What?!”

Swaaaaaaaaaa—

At the forefront of the swarm, leading countless sea creatures, was the skeletal, undead Deimos.

And standing atop it, arms crossed, was a blue-haired boy.

“Simon! It’s Simon!”

“Siiimooon!”

Simon gave a light wave toward his comrades, then turned serious once more as his gaze fixed ahead.

Suuuup—

Taking a deep breath, his eyes sharpened as he gave an Absolute Order.

[Eliminate every Naga here.]

And Deimos, connected through his will, opened its massive jaw and unleashed a tremendous wave. Every sea monster obeyed that command.

‘Charge!’

The swarm of Nagas advancing toward the shore immediately collided with countless sea creatures.

Kwa-kwa-kwa-kwa-kwang!

Like a dam bursting under a tidal wave, their formation shattered at once. Octopus monsters wrapped five or six Nagas with their tentacles, while fanged beasts bit into Nagas whole.

Some were danger level three, even over level four creatures. The Nagas, though many in number, were on average only level two. They stood no chance in the sea.

Crunch!

Crackkkk!

Nagas’ bodies were pierced through, their necks broken by constricting tentacles.

And above it all, controlling the ocean, reigning supreme, was Simon.

No one could take their eyes off him.

The tide of battle had flipped in an instant.

“Whoa! Whoa! This is insane! Wooooah!”

Dick could only shout exclamations again and again.

“That bastard Simon! He really stole Deimos’ soldiers?”

“Go, Simon!”

“Kill them all!”

Kamibarez and Maelyn bounced in place, screaming their throats raw in support.

And behind them, one more.

“Ahh.”

A trembling reporter, eyes shaking, pulled out a mana camera. Only just enough mana remained for a single shot.

‘This is the scoop of my life.’

Shaking, he raised the mana camera toward Simon standing atop Deimos.

‘The Keyzen student, and no less—’

“Well done, our President!!”

Moved to tears, Maelyn’s cry rang out as the reporter pressed the shutter.

‘The debut battle of Keyzen’s new Student Council President!’

Flash!

The camera flared as it captured Simon atop Deimos, commanding the monsters.

* * *

With Simon’s arrival, the battle completely turned.

Though Deimos was scheduled to appear much later, Simon had put it to sleep with [Sleep], stolen its forces, and used them to wipe out the Nagas. It was, in truth, Simon’s one-man show.

This was more than just victory. Simon had put the very first button on his presidency into place. From the start of his career, he had achieved a massive feat: saving an entire region from monsters.

The only remaining concern had been those who had failed to escape to the lord’s castle and hid scattered across the land. But when the crisis ended, every last one of them returned safely to the castle.

Though their hiding places varied—basements, forests, caves—they all gave the same testimony: they had been aided by a blond boy in a robe.

Once daylight fully broke, and the Nagas that had occupied the waters were gone, ships entered Pharonna. Tourists boarded them and escaped the island safely.

Simon’s group, drained nearly to collapse from the battle, decided to rest in Pharonna for a while before leaving.

And then.

「<Exclusive> New Student Council President of Keyzen, Simon Follentia. The Savior of Pharonna!」

Simon opened his eyes to find a rather embarrassing newspaper from Pharonna placed in his hands.

“Ugh!”

His face burned bright red.

The photo showed him atop Deimos, arms crossed, wearing a deadly serious expression.

‘I… I was like that?’

He couldn’t believe it. Beside him, Dick had already collapsed onto the floor, rolling in laughter at the sight.

“Ahaha! Simon! Your expression is way too serious!”

Kamibarez said as she wiped tears from her eyes.

“Hey! You knew the reporter was there, didn’t you? You posed on purpose, right?”

Maelyn nudged his arm with her elbow. Simon just covered his forehead with his palm.

“Keek! Kuk! Congrats! The Hero of Pharonna!”

Dick laughed heartily as he slapped Simon’s back.

“Ah, but the only shame is that this was just the local Pharonna paper! If it were a major newspaper, your proud image would be all over the continent….”

“Please stop.”

Simon was on the verge of dying from embarrassment. Maelyn patted his shoulder to comfort him.

“You think being in the papers is an easy thing? This all goes on your record, your reputation, your assets.”

“True, getting in the paper isn’t easy. Just like the pride of Langerstine’s Grand Theater! The heavenly voice, Maelyn Villene!”

“Hey!!!”

Her face flushed red, Maelyn let out a shriek and lunged. Dick dodged with nimble movement.

“No running indoors!”

Kamibarez stepped in to break up the fight.

“Waaaagh! Wait, wait!”

Finally, with his hair caught in Maelyn’s grip, Dick frantically shouted.

“This isn’t the time for that! There’s a serious problem!”

“Quit bluffing.”

“It’s true!”

Dick glanced at Simon.

“Tomorrow’s the start of the semester! Did you all forget?”

The three froze in place. Maelyn finally let go of Dick’s hair.

“If we want to make it in time for the opening ceremony, we have to leave now. But because of all this, the regular ferries must be canceled.”

“T-that’s bad.”

Maelyn looked to Simon.

“Simon. Can’t we ride your Deimos?”

“......My Deimos is one-seater. And after today’s fight, it’s too exhausted.”

The four of them huddled together, worrying over how to reach Roke Island.

Knock knock knock!

A knocking sound was heard. When Kamibarez, chirping a “Yees~”, ran to open the door, a woman in a robe stepped inside.

“W-who are you?”

She pulled back her hood and bowed politely.

“Greetings, second years. I am a servant sent from the school.”

When she revealed the Keyzen emblem, the four finally relaxed.

“The school has been informed of your impressive performance.”

Putting the emblem back into her robe, she continued.

“Along with our gratitude for your hard work, we have decided to set up a teleportation magic circle in Pharonna for your safe return tomorrow.”

“Nice timing!”

Dick cheered loudly.

Simon finally allowed a relieved smile, while Maelyn and Kamibarez clapped their hands together.

“Teleportation technicians are already here, so by dawn tomorrow it will be complete without issue. I simply came to tell you to rest at ease.”

“Thank you!”

“Oh, and.”

She smiled faintly and pointed behind her.

“This is my personal suggestion, but if you go now to ‘Whale Hill’, you’ll be able to enjoy a magnificent view.”

“!!”

At her words, the four hastily put on their shoes and dashed outside.

“Everyone run!”

“Dick, wait for me!”

“Hey!! You’re wearing my shoes, you idiot!”

Like that, the four sprinted at full speed, trampling even darkness itself, until they reached Whale Hill. Their eyes widened.

“Wooooow!”

Before them, with the vast sea as a backdrop, countless marine creatures swam together.

Splash! Splash!

As though sending signals to one another, fish and sea monsters leapt out of the water in unison, an ensemble so grand it left their jaws hanging.

They couldn’t look away.

“Simon! Everyyyone! The view is even better over here!”

Since all the tourists had left the island, the four of them alone had Whale Hill to themselves.

A sightseeing wonder only visible once every two years, and they had it all to themselves. Sitting comfortably on the ground, wide smiles spread across their faces.

“Finally, the Ruler has come!”

Dick shouted.

Woooooooooooo!

With another horn-like cry, the highlight of the festival at last appeared, Deimos crossing through the sea.

Though not fully visible, just its blowhole at the surface, the massive black shadow beneath already overwhelmed all who looked upon it.

“It’s huuuuge!”

Maelyn cried, eyes wide.

“Not even Keyzen’s Underworld Whale falls short against this!”

“Amazing!”

The three marveled at its size, but Simon, who had already faced it directly within the sea, reacted more calmly.

‘Still, the scale is far beyond the one I controlled.’

The sea monsters that Simon had once commanded as undead were now returning to their original master, Deimos.

Then, water spouted from the blowhole revealed above the surface.

Swaaaaah!

The jet of seawater shot impossibly far, landing precisely on the spot where Simon’s group sat.

“Ugh! What’s this?”

“Kyaaaa!”

Suddenly drenched, the four flailed in chaos, when—

Boooom!

Deimos burst out of the sea.

Everyone’s mouths fell open. The colossal creature soared into the air, rolling its eyes. Those eyes fixed straight on Simon.

Simon met Deimos’ gaze, smiling faintly.

“I’m glad you seem to be in a good mood.”

Then Deimos plunged back into the ocean, and with the impact, waves surged skyward.

Swaaaaaaaa!

A heavy rain fell on the peninsula. Their uniforms were soaked through with seawater.

“Ah, what is this! We’re all drenched!”

As always, Maelyn’s complaining voice was heard, though her mouth stretched into a wide grin.

“Ahaha, Simon, you look like a drowned rat.”

“Kami, you’re no different.”

Hahahahahaha!

Though their clothes were wet, the four laughed loudly, freely. It wasn’t even that funny, but once they started, they couldn’t stop.

Ahead was the breathtaking ocean show of Deimos passing by.

From above, a refreshing salty rain poured down.

Beside him, good friends laughing, drenched like drowned rats.

Everything around them was perfect.

“Now then, tomorrow is finally the start of the semester!”

Dick shouted, arms spread wide.

“Let’s chant a slogan before we go!”

“Slogan?”

“What’s that?”

“What else.”

Dick roared boldly.

“Simon’s Keyzen Student Council 330! Let’s do our best this year too!”

The other three smiled and raised their voices.

“Let’s go!”

Swaaaaaah!

As though to celebrate them, another jet of water burst from Deimos’ blowhole. A beautiful, seven-colored rainbow stretched across the sky.

Simon gazed at it with a smile.

‘Finally, the semester begins.’
